Tomorrow's event is the start of many which will be spread across the month of October.

Three HSE Lactation Specialists are now available in the Cavan/Monaghan area.

The longest wait time in this region is for children's speech and language therapy, which, currently stands at just one week shy of 200 weeks, or eight weeks short of three years. 

The specialist team will include a consultant psychologist, consultant occupational therapist, clinical nurse and admin staff.

The service had been suspended from July through to the end of September "due to paediatric nursing shortages within Cavan General Hospital", the HSE explained.

The HSE in their correspondence to Deputy Brendan Smith state that this unit is currently funded for 2 beds.

According to Senator Robbie Gallagher, the lack of detail around this decision is simply "not good enough."
