Covid tests and GP assessments are free of charge, including out of hours consultations, according to the HSE.
It's moved to clarify the situation after it emerged some people were charged for a test.
In a statement, the Health Service Executive says rapid access to coronavirus testing is a fundamental part of its strategy to monitor the spread of Covid 19 in Ireland.
It says as part of its response to the pandemic the HSE reached agreement in March with GP representatives to ensure people with symptoms could have access to free Covid assessments and tests.
That was extended in June to include out of hours services.
The health body is re-iterating its advice is that if people develop symptoms of coronavirus m, fever, cough, difficulty breathing, loss or change in your taste or smell,, self-isolate and phone your GP or GP Out of Hours service straight away.
