The HSE have confirmed they plan on progressing with their plan to reduce the GP Service in Swanlinbar to 3 days a week.
Following a meeting with the HSE last night, the Swanlinbar Development Association was informed that the HSE plan on reducing the service from the 18th of March. The HSE informed the members of the local group that from that date the GP Service in Swanlinbar will be run 3 days a week run by the Ballyconnell Practice.
The Swanlinbar Development Association say this is of grave concern to the patients of the Swanlinbar Practice and are therefore calling an open meeting this evening in Trivia House at 8pm. A spokesperson from the group told Northern Sound earlier that this is a gathering to get the views of the patients affected and what further action is needed.
This confirmation from the HSE has come as a shock to locals following the Health Minister Stephen Donnelly saying there was 'no final decision ' taken on the purposed plans by the HSE to roll out a pilot three day GP service in Swanlinbar when he was quizzed by local TD Deputy Brendan Smith late last week.
