The HSE has been granted planning permission for alterations to a property in Co Cavan that will be utilised as a residential home for people with disabilities.
The works to an existing bungalow on the Ballyjamesduff Road, in Creighan, Cavan, will see the demolition of an existing outbuilding, alongside the construction of side and rear extensions to the existing dwelling.
The property in Creighan is one of three projects in Co Cavan to benefit from €2.3 million of funding for Disability Services across Co Cavan.
It's part of a HSE plan to provide residential accommodation in the community for residents of institutional congregated settings, and the priority to date has been on the purchase and adaption of houses in the community.
The extensions to the dwelling in Creighan will allow for the construction of four bedrooms, shower rooms, plant room and utility room.
The proposed use is as a residential home for four people with disabilities, which will be supervised by trained healthcare staff on a 24-hour basis.
