Substantial funding under the HSE's 2023 Capital Programme has been provided to progress a number of health projects across Cavan and Monaghan. That's according to Deputy Brendan Smith who highlighted that major developments will be funded at Cavan General Hospital.
These include the provision of a new Oncology Unit, Endoscopy Unit and an 18 bed ward as well as the relocation of the Emergency Department and associated facilities. Meanwhile, a new Primary Care centre will be provided in Ballyconnell; the Primary Care centre on the St Davnet's site in Monaghan will be developed; and a refurbishment of the Ambulance base at Monaghan General Hospital is also in the pipeline.
Deputy Smith says the people of Cavan and Monaghan deserve to be able to access these vital services locally. "Among the projects to be advanced are major developments at Cavan General Hospital including the provision of new Oncology Unit, new Endoscopy Unit and an18 bed ward accommodation, and the relocation of the Emergency Department and associated facilities.
"A new Primary Care building will be provided in Ballyconnell. The substantial funding is also being provided towards the development of the Primary Care centre on the St Davnet's site in Monaghan and also towards the refurbishment of the Ambulance base at Monaghan General Hospital.
"I had consistently made representations to the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly and the HSE regarding the need to provide these new facilities which will enhance the delivery of health services locally," he added.
