The HSE is seeing an increase in Covid-19 cases leading to hospital admissions. A member of the Oireachtas Health Committee says hospitals will need to act, in order to cope with a spike, but said people still have a personal responsibility to avoid spreading the virus.
Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway says hospitals need to be be supported during this time. "I have noticed even myself that the numbers of people who tell you they have tested positive for Covid-19 is actually quite high compared to what it would have been three to six months ago.
"Our health system has to be flexible enough to cope with those spikes and to support people, and put the necessary care in place. But I think that the simple message that was prevalent at the very peak is still there and that is people need to be careful," he added.
