A locum GP will be in place in Swanlinbar until a permanent vacancy has been filled.
Local TD Pauline Tully was informed by the HSE that the vacancy has been advertised north and south of the border and that a locum will be in place in the interim.
However, Deputy Tully added that interviews have not yet taken place and it's unknown what level of interest has been expressed in the vacancy.
Dr Jacqueline Ellis-Deering and Dr Kevin Deering are due to retire on the 31st of October and concern had been expressed locally about the prospect of being left with no GP services.
