The HSE says it acknowledges the need for more physiotherapists to deal with the delays in the Cavan-Monaghan Children's Service.
In May, it was revealed the region had the highest number of children waiting more than a year to be seen.
Freedom of Information figures showed that earlier this year, over 7,200 children were waiting for a physiotherapy assessment in Ireland.
532 of those were in Cavan-Monaghan.
Of that figure, 316 were waiting more than a year - more than any other part of the country.
In a statement to Northern Sound News, the HSE said there's been a year-on-year increase in referrals for the children's section in the region since 2010.
It continued that an additional physio was brought in last November and there are a "range of other control measures to monitor output and productivity in place", but it's "acknowledged that additional Physiotherapists are required" to deal with the delays.
The HSE's Children's Physiotherapy section carried out 3,257 interventions in the two counties last year, and assessed 478 new patients.
A spokesperson for the CHO1 area said they are continuing to seek an increase in the number of physiotherapists via the HSE service planning process in an effort to manage waiting lists.
