The Shannonside Northern Sound region resoundingly rejected the 39th and 40th amendments to the constitution.
An average of 74% of voters across Roscommon-Galway, Sligo-Leitrim, Longford-Westmeath, and Cavan-Monaghan voted 'No' to the amendment on Family.
Whilst an average of 78.6% voted against the amendment on Care. The highest percentage of 'No' votes in the region against Care was in Cavan-Monaghan with 81.3%. Cavan-Monaghan also had the highest percentage of 'No' votes against the Family amendment at 78.1% An exit poll on the referendums - published today in the Sunday Independent - reveals high levels of anger behind the 'No' vote.
