A housing lecturer says it's "shocking" that so many registered rental tenancies failed to meet minimum standards last year.
Less than seven percent of tenancies nationwide were inspected, which Lorcan Sirr says is a "poor rate of inspection" given the size of the sector.
Every property inspected in Co Cavan failed to meet the minimum standard, which requires the property to be in a sound state, inside and out.
Co Monaghan had the best compliance nationwide, even though 55 percent of rental properties inspected breached the regulations.
