Households could save a further €110 a year if the Government proceeds with a VAT cut on gas and electricity.

Another lump sum payment of €99 is also being considered for the 370,000 people who are in receipt of fuel allowance, while a cut to the PSO levy on energy bills could result in an extra saving of around €50 a year.
