Property prices in County Cavan have risen by €20,000 in the second quarter of this year. Nationally, the asking price for houses has risen by 7.3 per cent. Those are the results of the latest MyHome.ie Property Price Report, which was released today.
According to the report, the median price for a property in County Cavan is now €215,000, which marks a €15,000 increase compared with this time last year. In Monaghan, prices rose by €2,500 making the median asking price for a property in the county €197,500.
Managing Director of My Home.ie, Joanne Geary, told the Joe Finnegan Show you have to go back before the beginning of quarter 2 this year to understand the jump in prices in Cavan: "So, if I look back to the first quarter of the year in Cavan fell by €4,000 and certainly, if I look back further than that again in the last quarter of last year, prices fell back by €10,500," Ms Geary said, "So, I think that price increase that we're seeing in the quarter two figures is a bit of re-adjustment here because we were looking at prices starting to come back and now we#'re seeing price increases again. It speaks to really strong demand in this marketplace and very limited supply."
