A Ukrainian man who has lived in Cavan for over 20 years says hotel accommodation is "not ideal" for refugees entering the country on a long-term basis.
Sergiy Balon's comments come after proposals were made which would pay homeowners up to 400 euro to house Ukrainian refugees.
It's reported the government is to put plans in place, in a bid to find more pledges to accommodate refugees, after many offers to the Red Cross did not materialise.
The Ukrainian native believes it is important for refugees to transition "smoothly" into society, with many wanting to work.
In relation to the demand for emergency accommodation, he says investing funds into "Glamping Camps" or mobile homes would benefit the Government and tax-payers money, rather than depending on hotels.
