Remains of a woolly mammoth were found on Turbet Island in 1715, and date back thousands of years to the Ice Age.

It's hoped a woolly mammoth monument planned for Cavan could start conversations about prehistoric Ireland.

Belturbet Community Development Association was recently granted permission to build a life-sized replica of the beast in the town.
