New data has revealed 382 homeless people have died in Dublin since 2018. The figures released to Meath West TD Peadar Tóibín under the Freedom of Information Act by Dublin City Council also shows 95 95 people died while homeless in our capital during 2022. Homeless deaths are not recorded in other counties, so we they is no national statistics available.
The Meath West deputy said we need beds, we need food, we need social workers, we need education, we need mental health services and drug rehab centres and he added that many of those who've died have died by suicide and drug overdoses. Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín says these figures that have been revealed are heart-breaking.
