The Holy Family School in Cootehill recently celebrated 50 years at the heart of the local community. The school originally started in Cootehill back in 1973. At the helm of its success over the last 10 years is Principal Rachel Moynagh.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Principal Moynagh said the local community of Cootehill first welcomed the school with "open arms" in 1973 and "nothing has changed since." The local principal went on to "thank" the families of students both past and present down through the years for their "trust" and "support." She added that looking to the future, the school is always looking for ways to improve in order to gives pupils from Cavan and Monaghan the best life and education possible.
"The school first started with 22 pupils and three members of staff, explained Ms Moynagh. "Now in 2023, we have a total of 182 pupils, 32 teachers, 61 SNAs, three nurses, a secretary a care taker. There are so many important pieces to the school and I have to say that our staff here are absolutely fantastic and their dedication is second to none."
