A drink and drug free music festival will take place in Cavan over the august bank holiday weekend. The Healing Spirit Festival will take place for the second year in a row on the organic farm of organiser Gearoid Teevan, located just outside of Milltown. The three-day event will include, dance, food, workshops, yoga, art, plant foraging and much more for all the family to enjoy.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, event organiser Gearoid Teevan says he is hoping to build on last year's success. According to the Cavan native, getting the opportunity to organise an event like this comes as a "privilege" and "honour" to him, as he looks forward to celebrating 13 years of sobriety this year. Gearoid added that it is through his journey to sobriety that has inspired him to align himself with nature and the land, which also encouraged him to become an organic farmer.
Gearoid believes there is a "great need" for events such as this in communities right across the country. "Why not have a celebration of a gathering where we don't use a substance and just enjoy that and really feel the essence and sovereignty of who you are. That's the liberation and freedom that I feel now, and I want others to be able to feel that for themselves and to witness that with others like last year was just magical."
