Iona House was found to be not compliant regarding its premises, infection control measures, and its fire precautions.

The inspector said "it was clear that significant progress had been made".

The inspector said the service was "person-centred and focused on supporting each resident to maximise their potential".

Despite the survey taking place during the Covid-19 pandemic, inpatients at Cavan General Hospital said their overall experience was a 7.9 out of 10.

Most of the residents told inspectors that the staff were kind and supportive.

Despite these non-compliances, the inspector said residents were provided with a high standard of nursing and medical care.

However, residents told inspectors they were happy with the care they received.

The centre was compliant in all other areas.
