HIQA inspectors have praised the kind, caring, and welcoming nature of staff at a Monaghan disability centre. An inspection was carried out at the HSE run Millbrook House in May of this year. Millbrook provides 24 hour care and support to seven adults (both male and female) with disabilities. The service is an accessible bungalow on the outskirts of a large town in Co. Monaghan comprising of a fully furnished sitting room, a relaxation room, a visitor’s room and a large fully equipped kitchen/dining room and utility room.
On arrival to the centre the inspector observed that the house was spacious, clean, and welcoming. One resident, who was noted as a keen artist, was present in the kitchen on the day of inspection, and they invited the inspector to see their room which was tastefully decorated. All residents said they were happy living there, had everything they needed, and were supported in carrying out activities.
Families of the residents who were spoken to also noted they had no complaints about the service provided. Staff were observed to be kind and caring in their interactions with the residents and residents appeared comfortable and relaxed in their home. The centre was found to be compliant or substantially complaint in all areas of inspection.
