An unannounced inspection was carried out at Manderley Lodge in Cavan in July of this year.

The report noted that it was clear that staff were aware of residents communication needs and observations confirmed that residents were given time and space to make their views known

Steadfast house residential service provides care and support to five female residents on a full time basis.

Families of the residents who were spoken to also noted they had no complaints.

Although there were a high number of residents living with a diagnosis of dementia or cognitive impairment those residents who could not communicate their needs appeared to be relaxed and enjoyed being in the company of staff.

Over the course of the inspection staff were observed to support the residents in a person-centred and caring manner.

On arrival, inspectors described the centre as nicely decorated, spacious, homely and welcoming.
