Meanwhile on the Friday night of this Banak Holiday weekend Cavan RPU detected a car travelling at 153km in the 100km zone at Butlersbridge on the N3. The L driver failed a road side breath test, was arrested and found to be 7 times the legal alcohol limit for driving. This driver is now charged to court for their actions.
Some of the speed detections include 161km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R188 in Drumnagran, Cootehill, Co. Cavan and 196km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N55 at Kilcogy, Co. Cavan. Last Night Cavan RPU were conducting speed checks on the roads of Co Cavan when this car was detected at 137km in the 100km limit. When stopped it was discovered the driver had no insurance. Local Gardai are continuing to make detections and want to send out a clear message slow down and arrive alive and never drink and drive.]
