'High note' national recognition for former St Louis student

The Leaving Certificate medal is named after Peadar Ó Cillín.

A former student of St Louis Secondary School, Monaghan attained the highest grade in the 2023 Leaving Cert music exam.

Brianna MacCinna achieved the same result as two other students from other parts of the country and all three were awarded with the gold Peadar
Ó Cillín medal from the Post Primary Music Teachers Association at a recent ceremony. The State Examinations Commission released the 2023 marks to the PPMTA on September 17th, 2024.

The Leaving Certificate medal is named after Peadar Ó Cillín, the pioneering second-level music inspector who played a pivotal role in the development of music education in Irish schools.

Briana's H1 in Music was one of seven H1s she achieved in the 2023 Leaving Certificate Examinations, the others being in Irish, English, French, Maths, Biology and Chemistry.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Pharmacy degree at Queen's University, Belfast.
