The HSE has commenced a process to re-instate the health and social care supports in special schools.
Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD, Deputy Niamh Smyth said the move is a positive one and will benefit numerous children across the region.
She added that local parents had contacted her about the importance of social care supports for children with complex needs.
The local TD highlighted how the Government is committed to delivering comprehensive on-site social and health supports to students attending Special Schools.
Deputy Smyth said she expected to see therapists in place soon which would ensure best outcomes for children with complex needs across Cavan and Monaghan.
"This is a positive step by Minister Rabbitte and comes after much consultation with parents of children with complex needs," she continued.
"I've heard from many parents whose children will benefit from therapists within their schools and I'm delighted to see them being reinstated.
