The Health Minister has been told to "grab the HSE by the scruff of the neck" and open the Carrickmacross Group Home.
Sinn Fein's Matt Carthy had made a call for the government to ensure there is proper funding in place to open the centre in 2021.
The Carrickmacross Group Home was completed over three years ago, but the HSE hasn't had the budget to operate it.
Speaking on behalf of Stephen Donnelly, Minister of State Frank Feighan said the health service intends to seek funding for next year.
Matt Carthy said that isn't a new development.
