A Monaghan councillor has presented the Health Minister with a letter calling for additional operating hours at the Monaghan Minor Injury Unit.
Sinn Féin's Sean Conlon issued the letter to Minister Stephen Donnelly at the official opening of the Carrickmacross Primary Care Centre this morning.
In the letter, Cllr Conlon says the Monaghan Minor Injury Unit is operating only 40 hours a week, compared to 84 hours at the other 10 facilities.
Cllr Conlon says he's been raising the issue since October of last year, and he most recently passed a motion calling on the CEO of the RCSI Hospital Group to lend his support in opening the facility for 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
