The proposed 'harder' Irish exam for leaving cert students in Gaelscoils could hamper the progress made locally.
Sean Ó Murchadha from Muineacháin na Gaeilge says they have long supported the idea of a model similar to applied maths whereby extra points would be allocated for a more difficult Irish paper.
However, he feels the current idea would deter parents from sending their children to certain schools and could damage the progress of Gaelcolaistí.
