Over half of stroke patients at Cavan General Hospital had scans done within an hour of their arrival at the hospital.
Figures from the National Office of Clinical Audit show large variations in times between hospitals across the region.
Just under 54 per cent of patients with a stroke in Cavan had scans done within an hour of their arrival, compared with 37 per cent in Sligo University.
Patients in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda had scans within an hour in 40 per cent of cases.
The Mater Hospital in Dublin was the best performing with 61 per cent, while just 24 per cent of stroke patients in Wexford General Hospital had scans within an hour.
