A Status Red wind warning has been issued for seven counties as Storm Darragh prepares to make landfall.
The red alert for Mayo, Clare, Galway, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo comes into effect tonight, while Wicklow will be impacted from 1am in the morning.
A status orange wind warning has been issued for Munster and Connacht from 8 o'clock this evening, and a similar alert has been issued for the rest of the country from 10pm that includes Cavan and Monaghan.
A yellow alert for wind is now in effect for the whole country until the alerts increase later tonight. Meteorologist with Met Éireann and Monaghan native Gerry Murphy says conditions will deteriorate quickly.
