The people of Co Monaghan will be given an opportunity this morning to pay their respects to Private Sean Rooney who will be buried with full military honours later today.
Private Rooney's funeral mass gets underway at the Holy Family Church in Dundalk at 9 o'clock and the cortege will travel back to the All Saints Church in Colehill, Co Donegal via Monaghan, for burial thereafter.
Those wishing to attend proceedings areasked to gather at the Coolshanagh Rounabout for 10:50am while people wishing to travel to Emyvale are advised to form dignafied lines on both sides of the main street for 11:15am.
Private Rooney died after his convoy was attacked in the Lebanon last Wednesday. His colleague Trooper Shane Kearney remains in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin after being transferred there from a Beirut hospital by air ambulance yesterday.
Private Rooney leaves behind his heartbroken mother and girlfriend whom he was due to marry next year.
