Supermarket giant, Lidl have been given the go-ahead for a new store in Carrickmacross.
The plans were approved today by Monaghan County Council to knock the current supermarket and replace it with an entirely new outlet.
The German outlet will now demolish the existing discount store, which totals 1,631 sqm and replace it with a new, larger store, totalling 2,529 sqm gross floor space.
Also included in the approved plans is the redevelopment and reconfiguration of the existing site layout, car parking and hard and soft landscaping, with reconfigured vehicle access from the existing access road to Oriel Road and reconfigured pedestrian access from the Ardee Road. County planners gave the green light with 14 conditions attached.
One of the conditions outlined by Monaghan County Council officials require Lidl to submit written revised plans that illustrate 14 car parking spaces equipped with EV charging points.
