The Green Kilometre scheme is set to be rolled out across Co Cavan.
It follows the successful implementation of the scheme across Bailieborough-Cootehill MD.
The motion was raised by Fianna Fáil councillor Aiden Fitzpatrick, and sees people volunteer to be responsible for the upkeep of around a kilometre of their road.
The County Council will then organise the regular collection of any rubbish that is collected.
Volunteers will also be given assistance by the Council in restoring heritage features, such as pumps and stone walls.
