A local youth worker says greater education is needed to make young people
aware of the pitfalls of digital media after the leaking of thousands of
sexually explicit images online.
The explicit images of Irish women, including some underage girls, were
leaked online this week without their permission.
Proposals to make the sharing of sexual images without consent a criminal
offence will be brought to Cabinet next Tuesday.
Caolan Faux, Director of Youth Work Ireland for Cavan/Monaghan, says he has
seen young people "plagued" by this issue.
He says there is a "lack of knowledge" around the issue amongst young people
when it comes to sharing images online:
