A Cavan man dazzled audience viewers this afternoon, after appearing on Channel 4's hit game show 'Countdown.'
Damian McEvoy from Crosserlough has always been a "fan" of the popular programme which will celebrate its 40 year anniversary later this year.
The local man revealed that applying for the show was always "in the back" of his mind, but it took a global pandemic to make him truly bite the bullet.
After noticing a recruitment advert for contestants during lockdown, The Cavan native took it as the perfect opportunity.
Speaking to Northern Sound ahead of his TV debut, Damian said he was delighted with his successful application after a number of gruelling tests.
He described the experience as a "complete blur" and praised the support he has received from across Cavan and further afield.
After a successful TV win with a final score of 99 to 54, the Crosserlough native now has his sights set on progressing onto the next round of the competition.
