GPs are warning of the dangers of legalising the use of cannabis, saying the drug has profound and lasting adverse effects.
The warning comes as the Citizens' Assembly meet for the final time this weekend to examine a number of issues, before making recommendations which will go to Government which could potentially change how Ireland regulates drugs.
Assistant Adjuvant Professor at Trinity Brendan O'Shea said all the evidence points to an increase in the use of cannabis when it is legalised.
