A Co Cavan woman is among the country's top Gardaí to be assigned a new role in the latest position announcement by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris. Superintendent Bronagh O'Reilly, a native of Gowna and attached to Tallaght Garda Station, will now have responsibility for the Tallaght Community Engagement Functional Area.
She was appointed the new superintendent of Tallaght Garda Station back in July of this year. The appointments take place in line with the new Garda Operating Model being introduced as part of A Policing Service for the Future, a plan based on the report of the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland.
The new model introduces major changes to the structures of An Garda Síochána by providing a wider range of policing services for people in their local area. The operating Model will see the number of Garda Divisions reduce from 28 to 21.
