Councillor PJ O'Hanlon passed a motion that an official from a relevant Government department should sit on the board with local representatives.
In a statement to Northern Sound News, a spokesperson for the Department of Local Government said that if a formal request is received to it or the Department of Agriculture, it will be given due consideration.
