A local Fianna Fail TD says the Government can't budget its way out of the rising cost of living.
The Cost of Living coalition has said this week that emergency measures to tackle rising costs are needed now rather than budget day in October.
It follows a survey by Barnardos that found 63 per cent of families with children are going without basic essentials like food and heat.
Deputy Niamh Smyth said she's aware of the pressures put on people because of increased fuel and food prices but added that the Government has ruled out any 'mini budget' before October.
