The government is expected to formally recognise the State of Palestine.
A press conference is being held this morning at 8 o'clock.
Stephanie Rohan reports: "The three coalition leaders are holding this news conference at Government Buildings. It simply says 'media opportunity' but it's widely expected that the government will officially recognise the Palestinian State. The Taoiseach already flagged it will happen before the end of the month despite major objections by Israel. In a video, the Israeli foreign ministry says it would jeopardise any prospects for peace and only strengthen Hamas and fuel extremism. Currently, eight EU member states recognise the State of Palestine. It's not yet known exactly what impact Ireland's recognition would have."
