The Minister for Local Government has committed to working with Monaghan County Council to advance the opening of the new Ballybay Fire Station.
At a recent meeting of the County Council, Hugh McElvaney commented on the "poor facilities" at Ballybay Fire Station.
Minister Darragh O'Brien attended the official opening of the Castleblayney Fire Station.
Monaghan County Council's Chief Executive, Eamon O'Sullivan, said he raised the issue of Ballybay Fire Station to the minister at this event.
Mr O'Sullivan told the County Council meeting that Minister O'Brien "assured him that he will work with the Council".
Eamon O'Sullivan also told the meeting that "there have been difficulties with the site which are being looked at immediately".
