The Government is aiming to have 2.5 million doses of the Covid vaccine administered by the end of May.
That's according to a draft of the revised vaccine plan, which is due to be published early next week.
Work on the 27th revision of the vaccine plan will continue through the weekend.
An age based approach will still be at the centre of the plan.
Head of the HSE Paul Reid says the revision will take into account the latest recommendations from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.
According to a draft of the revised plan, 2.5 million doses will be administered by the end of May, 4 million by the end of June and 6 million by the end of July.
Paul Reid says they expect to open the registration process to 50 to 59 year olds soon.
As of yesterday evening 1,484,418 vaccines have been administered. 28 per cent of the adult population have received their first dose, and 11 per cent their second dose.
