The head of a local home care company says there's been a lot of interest from people hoping to change career during the pandemic.
Irish HomeCare, which is based in Castleblayney, is to hire 750 people over the next 18 months.
Originally set up in 2005, today's announcement will see it double its workforce.
The majority of the roles will be carers, with other administration and training roles also to be filled. The jobs were announced this morning as part of a major national recruitment drive to meet the high levels of demand for personalised home care across Ireland.
700 of the jobs will be flexible carer roles, with the remaining full-time positions reserved for nurses, managers, supervisors and support staff.
370 positions are being made available in Leinster where demand is the greatest, with 130 in Munster, 110 in Connaught and 90 in Ulster.
The company will also open a new office in Dublin but its CEO says it's committed to its Castleblayney office remaining as its headquarters.
The jobs announcement has been welcomed locally and nationally.
Speaking today, CEO John Florence said there's a focus on caring for people in their homes, rather than in hospitals and nursing homes:
The news has been welcomed both locally and nationally.
