A golf classic fundraiser is set to take place this weekend at Crover House Hotel to raise funds for cancer support services in the area. Organised by the Friends of the Ballyjamesduff Cancer Support group - which provides local people with transport to their treatment centres - the focus now is to raise €100,000 for the service.
Speaking to Northern Sound, organiser Adrian McCabe, highlighted how the event will take place over two days, Friday 28th and Saturday 29th with proceedings concluding at Farrell's pub and an auction.
Mr McCabe says that it costs at least €100,000 annually to run the service and that is without inflation or the cost of living crisis.
He added that the local people and the business community have already been more than generous to the fundraising effort. "We all know, unfortunately every family has been hit by cancer and if the family hasn't been impacted, then they have close friends who are.
"We have set up Gofundme pages and we have gone to local business in the hope that we can raise money. We have a target of €100,000 to raise; we are very close and we hope to hit our target this weekend when we finish up with our golf classic," Mr McCabe said.
