Gardai are investigating an "RIP" graffiti threat against a QIH Director.
In the last two weeks, the message “Dara Reilly RIP” was reported to be written on a roadsign in Belturbet.
Dara O’Reilly is the Chief Financial Officer at Quinn Industrial Holdings, and one of the five company directors.
Between August 17th and 24th, the graffiti was painted onto the back of a Waterways Ireland sign close to where he lives.
Gardai confirmed they are investigating an incident that took place at Straheglin, Belturbet between those dates.
It was brought to the attention of company directors by Gardai, and was removed last week.
In a statement following the incident, Quinn Industrial Holdings says “it has engaged with the Gardai and the PSNI in connection with an escalation of activities relating to QIH and its staff as signage, protests, trespass and demands have been the precursor to previous intimidation and violence that we hoped was now behind us”
Shortly after the attack and kidnap of Kevin Lunney last year, the QIH executives were told by Gardai and PSNI that there’s a “serious and credible” threat to their lives.
This is the latest act of intimidation that has been targeted at Mr O’Reilly.
In Febuary 2019, a cup of hot water was poured over his face at a service station in Ballyconnell. Kevin Lunney’s nose was broken in the same incident.
While in 2018, a car was set alight outside Dara O’Reilly’s home, while he, his wife and two children were in the house.
