Gardaí are investigating after the main gates of Rossmore Park were rammed.
The wooden gate was damaged overnight on Tuesday and couldn't be opened on Wednesday morning.
This resulted in no vehicular access to the park for a number of hours.
Coillte and Monaghan County Council arranged for the contractor working on the Family Cycle Trial to remove the gate and the park was reopened to cars at 11am yesterday.
As a result of the damage, the older forest park gates will lock from 10pm to 8am daily until the barrier is replaced.
