Gardaí in Monaghan are investigating following an 'extensive' fire on Dublin Street yesterday.
The alarm was raised yesterday evening, with crews at the scene until 10pm.
The fire brigade in Monaghan, along with the Gardaí were notified of a blaze which had broken out in the back lands of Dublin Street at around 6pm yesterday.
The fire had broken out in a derelict building and two fire crews from Monaghan were deployed.
On arrival there were a number of cylinders that had exploded with the rest close to explosion.
Crews were required to use breathing apparatus and cooled down the remaining cylinders.
There was no immediate impact on any of the surrounding buildings and no evacuations were required however, Dublin Street was closed off for the entirety to ensure ease of access for crews.
Gardaí have confirmed that the cause of the fire is yet to be identified but they are investigating.
They are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity or with any information to contact them.
