Gardai in Cavan and Monaghan are asking motorists to take care on the roads as travel restrictions ease and traffic increases.
From last Monday, people are no longer required to keep within their county for exercise and non-essential journeys.
Figures from Transport Infrastructure Ireland shows traffic volumes on the N3 increased 13 per cent since the 5km restriction was eased in April.
Together with the Road Safety Authority, Gardai are appealing to drivers to be extra cautious as more people take to the roads.
Sergeant Niall Leech from Monaghan Garda Station says they've seen an increase in serious and fatal collisions in the past month.
