Gardaí have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the seizure of four dogs from a site in Kilnaleck, Co Cavan.
The incident happened on Sunday, July 18th, when a number of dogs were taken by the dog warden to a council run dog pound.
The dogs assessed by a vet but did not require medical treatment.
It was reported that the incident involved Cavan Councillor Craig Lovett.
However, he said reports of his involvement are "completely false" and his father, Martin, claimed ownership of the dogs.
In a statement to Northern Sound, Cavan County Council said it "will not be issuing a comment at this time as the matter is subject of an ongoing Garda investigation".
