Cavan Gardaí are warning the public about a telephone scam which has been
reported over recent days.
A number of reports have been made to Bailieborough Gardaí concerning phone
calls which purport to be made from Amazon Prime.
The contacting number of each call begins with 00-216, but the remaining six
digits alter from call to call.
Gardaí warn that an automated voice then invites you to cancel or amend your
account by pressing 1.
Doing so will divert you to a fraudster, who will try their best to convince
you to pass on your personal information.
Gardaí have reminded the public to never give out personal information or
bank details over the phone and have asked for this message to be passed on
to those who may be vulnerable to scams of this nature.
