Gardaí cannot confirm reports that items are to be re-examined in the Paul Quinn murder investigation.
The 21-year-old, from Cullyhanna was beaten to death in a farm shed near Castleblayney in 2007.
Reports in recent days claimed those behind the killing are at the centre of a new garda inquiry with around 200 exhibits seized in Carrickmacross being re-examined for traces of DNA.
It said items being re-examined, using new DNA technology, include clothing from some of the suspects and a vehicle.
However, the Garda Press Office told Northern Sound the investigation into the murder of Paul Quinn remains an active live investigation by Gardaí from Carrickmacross following an examination by the Serious Crime Review Team, but they are not 'in a position to confirm any of the details' reported.
They have again renewed their appeal to any person with any information on the murder of Paul Quinn to contact Carrickmacross Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line or the PSNI.
