Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to a number of burglaries which have taken place across the Co Cavan area. Gardaí in Belturbet are investigating a burglary at a garage which took place between 1am and 8am on February the 1st. According to Gardaí, a vehicle which has since been recovered was stolen along with two sets of keys. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. Moving to the Cootehill area and on the 6th into the 7th of February a residential dwelling was broken into. A safe containing cash and documents was taken and the house was ransacked. Gardaí would like to hear from anyone who overserved any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area at that time.
Elsewhere in Dernaferst, Gowna between the 6th to the 11th of February. A vacant property was broken into via back door. The house was ransacked and a significant amount of jewellery was stolen. Also taken was an All-Ireland ladies intermediate championship medal. This item holds huge sentiment to the victim of this burglary and Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch with Cavan Gardaí.
Gardaí in Cavan are also anxious to hear from anyone who has information in relation to a burglary in the New Inns area. According to Gardaí, the incident took place on the 10th of February. A house was broken into via the rear window between the hours of 10pm and 11pm. A sum of cash was taken. Bailieborough Gardaí are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious to get in touch. Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Lisa Stevens of Bailieborough Garda Station has encouraged people to always "lock up" and "light up."
